Caldwell man gets 2 to 10 years for Nampa arson fires
Scott Centers, 30, was sentenced to prison Monday for two counts of third-degree arson.
Police say Centers set buildings and trash bins on fire along Garrity Boulevard in Nampa in October. He pleaded guilty in February.
He will be eligible for parole after two years of the 10-year sentence handed down Monday in 3rd District Court.
At the time, Centers had already been on probation for a 2014 arson charge after he pleaded guilty to setting another string of fires.
Defense attorney Randall Grove had asked the judge to sentence his client to a rider treatment program instead of prison, saying Centers has significant cognitive delays.
But the judge handed down the 10-year sentence, saying he hopes Centers can get some help.
