2 Nampa residents arrested on firearms, drug charges
Nampa Police officers arrested one man on a $50,000 felony warrant for aggravated battery and another woman on additional drug charges Wednesday night, according to an NPD release.
Police saw David O. Salas, 28, of Nampa go into a residence on the 200 block of 1st Street North. Police requested help from the Tactical Response Team to approach Salas, who had a warrant for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. While the team was getting together, Salas attempted to leave the residence and hopped into the rear seat of a white Ford Explorer SUV. Officers approached Salas in the vehicle, and he was arrested without incident, according to NPD.
The driver of the SUV was also arrested. Katie M. Smith, 33, of Nampa was charged with possession of meth, marijuana and also charged with driving while suspended, according to NPD. Salas faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm, according to NPD.
The TRT team worked to clear the scene and determined no one else was at the residence.
