Garden City police chase ends with crash, arrest of Boise teen
After a brief vehicle chase and crash, one Boise teen was arrested in Garden City Sunday morning, according to a Garden City Police Department press release.
GCPD stopped a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu for an equipment violation on the 3700 block of Chinden Boulevard. But, when officers flashed their lights, the vehicle sped off. Seconds later officers found the vehicle crashed into a stop sign on Orchard and Bond streets, according to the release.
Destiny Stoops, 18, of Boise, who was driving the vehicle was cited for reckless drivng, failure to purchase a driver’s license, obstruction, not having insurance and an equipment violation, according to GCPD.
But, her passenger, Kenneth Stewart, 18, of Boise, fled the vehicle after Stoops crashed into a sign. He was found hiding behind a business near the scene, according to the release.
Stewart was arrested for a felony warrant from Nampa and a misdemeanor warrant from Ada County. He was also charged with obstruction and felony possession of a controlled substance.
Stewart is scheduled for a court appearance in Ada County Monday at 1:30 p.m.
