Missing Canyon inmate captured after pursuit, reported assault
Sebastian Levasseur, 20, was arrested Thursday after he ran away from a traffic stop on Pit Lane in Nampa then ran through numerous yards and outbuildings, the Canyon County Sheriff's Office reports.
Levasseur had been listed as an escapee from the Canyon County Detention Center after he failed to return following a court-ordered furlough in February, according to a Canyon County news release.
About 10:20 a.m. Thursday, a CCSO deputy pulled over a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign, and the driver -- later identified as Levasseur -- fled on foot, CCSO reports. While officers and a police dog searched the area, multiple residents called police about a man matching the suspect's description. Several people reportedly chased the man out of their homes and garages, and one man who confronted the suspect was assaulted and suffered minor injuries, CCSO reports.
After several hours, officers found Levasseur hiding in a shop and arrested him. He remained in the Canyon County Jail Thursday night on charges including battery, resisting and obstructing officers, malicious injury to property, unlawful entry and giving false information to officers.
