Leandro T. Lopez, 47, of Boise was booked into the Ada County Jail on felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and probation violation early Monday, Boise police said in a news release Tuesday.

Lopez also faces misdemeanor charges of resisting officers, public intoxication and possession of a concealed weapon. He remained in jail Tuesday evening.

A caller reported a man was standing in the middle of the street near the intersection of Nor5th 14th and West Jefferson Streets about 12:20 a.m. Monday, police said. Officers arrived to find a man pacing back and forth, appearing agitated and confused, according to the news release.

The man, later identified as Lopez, refused officers' requests to come out of the street and repeatedly reached toward his waistband, where a large knife was concealed, police said. Eventually the man walked to the sidewalk but resisted officers when they tried to place him in handcuffs, police said.
