Escaped Canyon County inmate Jose Coronado, was taken back into custody early Saturday morning, according to a Canyon County Sheriff’s Office release.

Coronado had escaped from the county’s jail located in Caldwell Jan. 30, using a razor to cut open the soft low-security jail structure, according to the sheriff’s office.

He was arrested around 12:50 a.m. Saturday in Ontario, Oregon at the 600 block of Southeast 6th Avenue and transported to the Malheur County Jail.

Coronado reportedly had stab wound injuries from an altercation the night before, according to the release.

"Mr. Coronado is facing felony escape charges from Canyon County,” said Sheriff Kieran Donahue in a statement in the release. “I am extremely pleased he was taken into custody without incident. Mr. Coronado is now a victim of a crime in Oregon. When people choose to elude law enforcement and take refuge with the criminal element they should expect that things like this could happen. It is my understanding Ontario Police will be investigating this incident."
