Bret D. Hollingsworth faces a felony charge of aggravated battery in connection with a stabbing at a home near the intersection of South Phillippi and Grover streets about 9 p.m. Wednesday, Boise police report.

Witnesses told officers Hollingsworth stabbed a man multiple times, but the victim fought back and detained Hollingsworth until police arrived.

The victim remained in a local hospital Thursday evening with serious injuries, a Boise police spokesman said. Hollingsworth was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries before he was booked into the Ada County Jail early Thursday morning, police said. His photo on the online jail roster shows facial injuries.

Police said Hollingsworth and the victim know each other, but gave no information about a motive for the attack. Hollingsworth had his first court appearance Thursday, and bond was set at $250,000. A public defender was appointed, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 18.
