Tyson J. Hunt, 33, of Boise faces misdemeanor charges of DUI and resisting officers after he allegedly ran away from deputies early Wednesday, the Ada County Sheriff's Office reports.
Deputies began their investigation just before 1:20 a.m. Wednesday when they saw a Ford Explorer going about 50 mph in a 25 mph zone on Valley Street near Lake Hazel Road. Deputies began following the SUV, which quickly turned onto La Grange Street and stopped. The driver, later identified as Hunt, jumped out and ran, according to an ACSO news release.
The deputies could hear Hunt jumping over fences in the neighborhood, and they followed the noise. They eventually found Hunt curled up on the ground behind an air conditioning unit outside a house, ACSO reports. Deputies noticed a strong odor of alcohol and learned Hunt did not have a valid driver's license.
Deputies took Hunt to the Ada County Jail, where his breath test registered a blood alcohol content of 0.162, more than twice Idaho's legal limit for drivers. Hunt posted bond later Wednesday morning and is scheduled for court Feb. 8.
