Police search neighborhood for man who fled from traffic stop
Boise police are seeking information about a man who sped away from an attempted traffic stop in a stolen car Friday afternoon, then fled on foot through a neighborhood near Kirkwood Road and Rand Street.
The man reportedly jumped fences and ran through yards, and he may have briefly entered a residence before being scared off by a resident, police said. Officers set up a perimeter in the neighborhood and searched for about two hours but did not find the suspect, police said.
The incident began about 3:43 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Emerald Street and Orchard Street when officers spotted a car that had been reported stolen and tried to pull it over. The car took off at a high rate of speed, and officers did not pursue it because of safety concerns, police said. Instead, they searched the area for the car and spotted it near Kirkwood and Rand, where the driver pulled over and ran, police said.
Police are still looking for the man, described as light-skinned, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds. He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with any information is asked to call non-emergency dispatch at 377-6790 or Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
