Meridian police arrested Oles Pishchanetskiy, 26, Wednesday morning on a felony charge of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16.

Pishchanetskiy is charged in connection with an Oct. 21 incident in which a 12-year-old girl reported that man in an older white vehicle stopped next to her, began to talk with her and then exposed himself, police said. The girl was running near South Locust Grove Road and East Lake Creek Street when she encountered the man.

Meridian police had arrested Pishchanetskiy earlier this month on a misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure after he was identified by an adult who reported an incident in a local parking lot in the early morning hours of Dec. 10, police said. Vehicle and suspect descriptions were similar in both cases, and investigators ultimately got a warrant to arrest Pishchanetskiy in connection with the October incident.

Anyone with information about the incident or Pishchanetskiy is asked to call Detective Jim Miller at 846-7332.
