A Homedale man was sentenced to four months in prison and three years with supervised release for stealing mail from the Homedale post office, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho.

Bobby Eugene Riley, 20, of Homedale, was convicted of breaking into post office boxes three times in June, July and August 2015. Riley had left envelopes on the floor while stealing mail, which was the first indication investigators used to determine there had been a theft. A surveillance camera captured Riley stealing mail on Aug. 24.

Stealing mail is a federal offense. Riley was also ordered to do 100 hours of community service.
