New Ada County family court magistrate appointed

Jill Jurries, a Boise attorney specializing in family law, child custody and mediation has been appointed to the Ada County bench.

She was selected by the Magistrate Commission for the Fourth Judicial District. Jurries, 40, will begin handling cases on the family law docket in January.

Jurries earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Seattle Pacific University and a law degree from the Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, Calif.

She became a member of the Idaho State Bar in 2001 and is qualified to try cases in state and federal courts. Jurries formerly served as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Payette County and as a criminal investigator with the U.S. Secret Service.

Magistrates are initially appointed for a four-year term. Voters then decide whether to retain them for another four-year term.
