Nampa teen charged with vehicular manslaughter after fatal weekend crash

Sean Michael Begin, 18, is being held in the Canyon County jail on $100,000 bond, charged with six felonies in connection with a pre-dawn rollover crash Saturday that killed 17-year-old Dante Wilcox and injured three others.

Other felony charges against Begin are grand theft and four counts of leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in injury or death.

Investigators said Begin was driving west on Amity Road in a stolen Ford pickup truck about 4:30 a.m. Saturday when he lost control on a slick patch and the pickup went off the road and through a fence, then rolled.

When Idaho State Police arrived at the scene they found the truck on its side and a dead teenager next to it, according to a probable cause affidavit in the case. Three other passengers were injured but left the scene and were later located at a Nampa hospital, according to the affidavit.

Later that day Begin turned himself in to the Canyon County Sheriff's Office while being treated at a Caldwell hospital. According to the affidavit, Begin admitted driving the pickup and running away from the crash scene.

His preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 17.
