Caldwell man surrenders to Nampa police following standoff
Eric J. Olmeda, 22, was booked into the Canyon County jail after the Wednesday morning incident.
Police tried to pull over a Dodge Neon, but the car sped away, according to an NPD news release. After a short chase, the car stopped in the 11000 block of Hawkins Avenue and the driver fled into a residence, police said.
The man, whom officers believed was armed, refused to come out. Police negotiators, the Nampa bomb unit and the Tactical Response team responded, and negotiators were able to contact the suspect, later identified as Olmeda, via a bomb robot, police said.
Olmeda was arrested on charges of felony probation violation and misdemeanors including eluding officers and possessing drug paraphernalia.
