Nampa High student arrested after bringing unloaded gun to school
The 17-year-old told investigators he brought the handgun to campus for his own safety Wednesday after being involved in an off-campus altercation earlier in the week, Nampa School District spokeswoman Allison Westfall said.
School administrators and school resource officers received a tip about the gun and located the student about 11 a.m., Westfall said. The teen was arrested without incident, and school was not disrupted, she said. The student is suspended from school, she said.
“We appreciate our strong partnership with our SROs to quickly investigate reports and work to keep our students safe,” Nampa High School Principal Byron Holtry said.
