Change of plea set for former Nampa teacher accused of sex abuse

Tomas Fisher, a former teacher at Skyview High School, is expected to be in court at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 8 for a change of plea hearing.

He is charged with felony sexual battery of a minor child ages 16 or 17 after reportedly admitting to having sex with one of his students last spring, when he taught Spanish.

Fisher resigned from the Nampa School District in midsummer, and was arrested and charged in September. He pleaded not guilty to the charge later that month, according to online court records.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Fisher told a Nampa police detective that he had sex with the girl two or three times a week for about a month and a half between April and June. He said he never wore a condom and on one occasion bought the girl a morning-after pill in case she had been impregnated, according to the affidavit.

The Nampa School District had received no complaints about Fisher’s behavior prior to his arrest, a spokeswoman said in September.
