A one-car crash east of Boise near Blacks Creek Road ended with drug and other charges against the two Magic Valley residents, Idaho State Police report.

Amanda Hernandez, 28, of Filer was driving east on Interstate 84 about 7:30 a.m. Monday when she lost control of the car and it went off the road and into the median, ISP reports. When a trooper arrived, he alerted to actions of Ricardo Garcia Ruiz, 23, of Twin Falls. The trooper searched Garcia Ruiz, finding a pocket knife and what appeared to be methamphetamine, according to an ISP news release.

Garcia Ruiz then fled on foot from the trooper and attempted to steal a vehicle from someone who witnessed the crash, ISP reports. He reportedly was unable to get the vehicle so continued fleeing on foot, ISP reports.

" After nearly 2 hours of chasing the suspect, Idaho State Police took Garcia Ruiz into custody with assistance from Boise Police Department, Ada County Sheriff's Office, and Idaho Fish and Game," according to the news release.

Hernandez and Garcia Ruiz were both transported to St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Boise with minor injuries, then booked into the Ada County Jail, where they remained Monday night. The incident is under investigation by Idaho State Police. Garcia Ruiz was booked on felony charges of drug possession, grand theft and burglary, plus misdemeanor resisting and obstructing an officer. Hernandez was booked on felony possession of drugs without a prescription and misdemeanor giving false information to an officer.
