Colin A. Slaughter, 27, met the 16-year-old girl last month through Facebook, police said.
The Ada County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation Sept. 21 after the girl’s parent notified authorities that explicit messages from Slaughter were found on the girl’s Facebook Messenger app.
Slaughter first contacted the girl on Sept. 17, identifying himself as “Christopher Lowe” and saying he thought the girl was someone else. Slaughter said he was 24 and after the girl said she was 16, the conversation quickly turned sexual in nature, police said.
The next night, Slaughter picked up the girl in her Kuna neighborhood. He took her to a residence in Eagle, where police said they had illegal sexual contact.

After Slaughter was unable to contact the girl further, police said he went on Facebook and contacted some of her friends to try and find out what had happened.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Slaughter on Thursday morning outside his Boise-area workplace.
He was taken to the Ada County Jail, where he was charged with felony sexual battery of a minor between 16 and 17 and use of a child in sexually exploitative material.
If convicted, Slaughter could face up to 25 years in prison.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Ada County Magistrate Court.
Investigators are looking to see if Slaughter may have been in contact with other teenage girls. Anyone with information are asked to contact Detective Ryan Pacheco at 577-3734.
