Women connected to slain Meridian attorney Emmett Corrigan talk to Dr. Phil in show that airs Thursday

It’s been four years since Meridian attorney Emmett Corrigan was shot to death by his lover’s spouse in a Walgreens parking lot.

Corrigan’s wife, Ashlee, who has five children, has gone public about what she went through in the aftermath — and how she felt she had to forgive to move on with her life. She has remarried and now is Ashlee Birk.

Birk agreed to talk to Corrigan’s mistress — Kandi Hall — on the Dr. Phil show. The show is set to air at 3 p.m. Thursday on KBOI-Channel 2, according to the show’s website. Here’s a preview of the show.

Rob Hall, who has two children, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for murdering Corrigan. He can’t ask for parole until he’s served 17 1/2 years.

Prosecutors said Rob Hall armed himself with a handgun and waited for his wife and Corrigan in a Walgreens parking lot. They said Hall shot Corrigan twice, then tried to shoot himself in the head but missed.

In 2012, Kandi Hall pleaded guilty to grand theft for stealing from her former boss, Boise attorney Jared Martens. She embezzled $32,000, prosecutors said.

She was sentenced to 14 years in prison and could not ask for parole until after serving two years. But the judge placed her on a retained-jurisdiction program, or “rider,” and she served six months in a prison-based treatment program.

Though she obtained a recommendation from the Idaho Department of Correction to be released on probation, that was opposed by prosecutors and rejected by Judge Timothy Hansen. Hansen sentenced her to serve out the remaining 11 months of the mandatory portion of her sentence.
