Nampa police arrest four people following standoff at apartment complex
The Nampa Police Department arrested four individuals after a standoff that involved a Nampa man wanted on a felony probation violation.
According to a press release, the NPD Special Enforcement Team found the location of the 20-year-old man who had outstanding warrants on a rioting charge and a felony probation violation for a domestic battery conviction, court records showed.
Officers obtained a search warrant for the apartment they believed the man was in, the release said, and he and other occupants would not vacate when asked by police. The police department’s Tactical Response Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Bomb Unit and Tech Team were called to the scene, leading to negotiations to get the people out of the apartment.
After a lack of cooperation, the Tactical Response Team “breached the door” of the apartment and found the suspect, along with two others, hiding in a bedroom, the release said. Three people were arrested other than the man police were trying to apprehend: a 19-year-old Caldwell man; a 20-year-old Nampa woman; and a 15-year-old juvenile from Caldwell.
The 20-year-old man with outstanding warrants was also charged with resisting and obstructing, according to the release, as was the 19-year-old man. The woman faces a charge of accessory to felony harboring, while the juvenile was arrested because of two probation violation detention orders, the release said.
Nampa Police Chief Joe Huff said the 20-year-old man had been “on the run” for some time and had “eluded” law enforcement around the Treasure Valley.
