A juvenile was apprehended after failing to obey traffic laws while riding an electric motorcycle in Eagle — leading to a collision with a police car.

Eagle Police deputies responded to reports shortly before noon Monday about a “juvenile riding an electric motorcycle on the wrong side of the road and driving dangerously” near East Hill Road and Idaho 55, the Eagle Police Department said in a social media post.

Police said a deputy attempted to pull over the 16-year-old rider, but the teenager sped away.

“The deputy deactivated his emergency lights and siren and continued following from a distance while waiting for additional units to arrive,” police said. The teen then “suddenly slowed and turned the electric motorcycle in front of the deputy’s vehicle, resulting in a collision” near Stephen C. Guerber Park.

The rider fled again on the motorcycle. Additional deputies located the rider outside an Eagle residence, and an ambulance took the rider to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the social media post.

“The rider was cited for multiple traffic violations and released to their parents,” police said. “Eagle Police is routing the case to the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office for additional charges.”

The Meridian Police Department is investigating the collision.
