School bus driver arrested in lewd conduct case. He drove Boise routes
Ada County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 29-year-old school bus driver Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of sexual battery of a minor, sexual abuse of a child and lewd conduct with a minor, according to a spokesperson.
Kayden Peterson, who worked for a school bus operator that served the Boise School District, had a “prior personal connection to the victim unrelated to his employment,” Ada County Sheriff’s spokesperson Lauren Montague said in a news release. The listed offenses include two counts of lewd conduct with a minor under 16 years old.
The Boise School District notified the bus provider, Durham School Services, that Peterson is no longer allowed to work under their contract, the district said in a message to parents.
“The Ada County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the cooperation of the Boise School District during this investigation,” Montague said. “Their partnership helped support deputies’ efforts to promptly and safely make the arrest.”
The Boise School District put out a letter to parents about the arrest Tuesday evening, writing that the district had “received no reports of any kind regarding” Peterson. Every bus in the school’s fleet is equipped with cameras, the district said in its announcement.
“We take this matter very seriously and are working closely with local law enforcement to ensure the continued safety and well-being of our students,” the district’s message said.
