Caldwell man sentenced for child sex crimes. He met his victims through church
A Caldwell man’s sentence for sex crimes against children means he very likely will be in prison the rest of his life.
On Tuesday, 3rd District Judge Kiley Stuchlik sentenced 67-year-old Weldon Haney to up to 70 years in prison, with at least 50 years before he is eligible for parole, according to court records.
Haney’s sentencing came after a jury found Haney guilty in December of three counts of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child and one count of sex abuse of a child. Jurors acquitted him of a fifth charge for attempted lewd and lascivious conduct.
Court records show that Weldon’s four victims were between the ages of 3 and 14. His crimes occurred between 2011 and 2024, according to the indictment.
The Caldwell Police Department said Haney met three of them through Calvary Temple Church, located at 200 S. 6th Ave in Caldwell.
“Detectives believe there may be additional victims due to the nature of the crimes and the suspect’s patterns,” police said. “CPD detectives encourage anyone with additional information regarding Haney to come forward.”
Caldwell police said anyone with information can contact them by calling 208-455-4624.
