Former Boise State football player faced litany of charges. He reached plea deal
A former Boise State football wide receiver who had several arrests over the past year pleaded guilty to a pair of charges and now faces five years of felony probation.
In April 2025, Austin Bolt, 23, a Boise native, was charged with disturbing the peace, which led to him being kicked off of the football team. Three months later, he was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. He was accused of grabbing a woman by the neck, according to a criminal complaint.
And then in August 2025, Bolt was arrested and faced charges of battery, trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. All counts are misdemeanors except possession of a controlled substance, which is a felony.
According to the criminal complaint in that case, Bolt was accused of trespassing on a woman’s property. When she approached Bolt, he allegedly grabbed her cellphone, grabbed her and put his hand over her mouth.
The criminal complaint also alleged that when Bolt was arrested the next day, police found a small bag with a white substance that tested positive for cocaine.
Last December, Bolt pleaded guilty to a battery charge and possession of a controlled substance. The other charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Bolt graduated from Borah High School in 2020 and started his Boise State football career in 2021. He was dismissed from the team for “violations of team rules,” Boise State Athletics spokesperson Chris Kutz previously told the Statesman.
This was in reference to the April 2025 arrest. Bolt addressed this during a court hearing, saying the charge was the reason he was “kicked off the team,” the Statesman previously reported.
Bolt was sentenced in February to 20 days in jail, five years of felony probation and 100 hours of community service, according to court records. He was instructed to serve the jail time before February 2027, and the time could be broken up into increments of no less than 48 hours, according to the conviction of judgment document.
