Update: The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office located the man, Geovany Javier Alvarez Cruz, and took him into custody at about 5:35 p.m. Wednesday on a federal warrant for the FBI.

A search is underway in Canyon County for a man the FBI is trying to arrest, and the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office said he was last seen in Parma and may be “armed and dangerous.”

The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office alerted the public in a Facebook post that deputies were assisting the FBI in trying to serve a federal arrest warrant for 36-year-old Geovany Javier Alvarez Cruz. The FBI says he is involved in an investigation into “guns and drugs.”

Law enforcement searched a residence in the 29000 block of Old Fort Boise Road near Parma, but said Alvarez Cruz was not found and taken into custody. He was last seen near Old Fort Boise Road and Pitman Lane wearing light gray sweatpants and a black sweatshirt, according to the post.

The Sheriff’s Office asked residents to avoid the area and warned people not to approach Alvarez Cruz if they spot him. Authorities said to call 911 immediately.
