The suspicious package was deemed safe, but writing on the exterior of the package indicated that it was an intentional bomb scare, according to the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office.

A suspicious package was left outside the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab and Coroner’s Office on Friday morning, leading to an evacuation and investigation.

The sheriff’s office determined it was an “intentional bomb scare.”

At about 11:30 a.m., a package was left in front of the Crime Lab and Coroner’s Office at 1014 Belmont St. in Caldwell, according to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office.

According to deputies, an unknown female driving a gray sedan dropped off the package.

The Crime Lab and Coroner’s Office were evacuated and Belmont Street and North 11th Street were temporarily closed.

The Nampa Bomb Squad conducted an assessment of the package. The sheriff’s office said the package was deemed safe, and no secondary devices were found. The scene was cleared just after 2 p.m.

Writing on the exterior of the package indicated it was an intentional bomb scare, the Facebook post said.

The incident remains under investigation and the sheriff’s office asks anyone with information to contact the non-emergency dispatch at (208) 454-7531.
