Boise man allegedly used Snapchat for sex crimes, could have more victims

Ada County law enforcement arrested an 18-year-old Boise man on sex-crime charges Monday morning and said he could have more victims.

Ada County Sheriff’s Office detectives and SWAT team members served an arrest warrant for Owen Alexander Sawyer at about 7 a.m. near East Tiger Lily Drive and South Redeken Place in Boise, according to a news release. Sawyer was charged with two felony counts of lewd conduct with a child under the age of 16 and a felony count of sexual exploitation of a child.

Sawyer, who also goes by Owen Suchital, according to the release, was booked in the Ada County Jail.

Detectives said they have reason to believe that Sawyer found his victims on Snapchat using the username iloveidaho. “Based on current information, investigators believe Sawyer may have additional victims,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

Law enforcement asked anyone with additional information to contact nonemergency dispatch at 208-377-6790, email acsotips@adacounty.id.gov or submit an anonymous tip via the Ada County Sheriff’s Office app, which is available through Apple or Google Play.

Officials did not respond to the Idaho Statesman’s request for additional information.
