Idaho man, armed with AR-15, arrested after assault, Ada sheriff’s office says
Deputies from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 35-year-old man on several felony charges after he allegedly attacked a person he knew and refused to cooperate with law enforcement.
Just after 6:30 p.m. Thursday, deputies were called to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise after a patient asked to speak with law enforcement, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. There, deputies learned that Christian Wood had physically attacked the patient at a Boise home, fired a gun inside the home and then pointed the gun at the victim, according to the release.
Deputies responded to a home on West Fox Ridge Drive, where Wood was located, and attempted to remove him from the house, the sheriff’s office said. He refused to leave and told deputies that he’d “challenge” them and implied that the deputies would have to use lethal force, according to the release.
After the Ada County SWAT Team was called in, Wood agreed to exit the house, but he didn’t follow the deputies’ instructions. Instead, he exited though a sliding glass window and jumped into a neighboring yard where several deputies were waiting, the release said.
Wood was taken into custody without incident, the release said. He was armed with an AR-15, a handgun and ammunition, according to the sheriff’s office.
He’s facing two felony counts of aggravated assault, felony unlawful discharge of a weapon in a house and an enhancement for the use of a deadly weapon in commission of a felony, according to online court records. He’s being held at the Ada County Jail on a $500,000 bond, court records showed.
