Boise police investigate killing, say suspect called it ‘assisted suicide’

The Boise Police Department is investigating a killing that the suspect referred to as assisted suicide, according to news release.

At about 12:45 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a hotel in the 2500 block of Sunrise Rim Road after 36-year-old Brian Jones told Ada County dispatchers that he killed his friend, according to the release.

An adult male’s body was found, and Ada County Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene, the release said.

Police said that Jones told officers “his friend wanted to go,” and he called it assisted suicide, according to the release.

Assisted suicide is not legal in the state, according to Idaho code 39-4514. Jones was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and is being held at the Ada County Jail, the release said.

Police said they are continuing to investigate, and the victim’s identity will be released by the Ada County Coroner’s Office.
