Police: Tips lead to arrest of Meridian man in child sexual exploitation case
A Meridian man was arrested Wednesday morning after a joint investigation that began with a half-dozen tips received through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The Meridian Police Department said in a news release that the investigation began in September and that detectives were able to identify the suspect, who was arrested on suspicion of child sexual exploitation. The 23-year-old will face 10 counts of the felony charge, according to the release.
Meridian police and detectives from the Idaho Attorney General Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit searched the man’s residence in Meridian early Wednesday and took him into custody after finding him to be in possession of child sexual abuse material, the release said.
Police said that the investigation is ongoing but that there’s no indication any of the victims are local.
