Police find ‘homemade pipe bomb’ in truck after DUI arrest Friday morning
The Boise Police Department found a “viable explosive device” inside a man’s vehicle during a DUI arrest early Friday morning, according to a Facebook post.
At about 12:45 a.m. Friday, a Boise police officer arrested two individuals after pulling over a truck near the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Linden Street, according to the post. The driver was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence and the passenger in the truck was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
When surveying the vehicle to be towed after the arrests, officers found the “suspected homemade pipe bomb.”
“It was a viable explosive device. Both end caps were sealed, there was a fuse and explosive powder inside the device,” the Boise Police Department stated.
The bomb squad was called, and technicians rendered the device safe and collected it as evidence, according to the post. Police said there was only the one pipe bomb.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending, according to the Boise Police Department.
