Nampa police arrested Tyler Schermerhorn on Friday morning after responding to a report of a sexual assault of a minor.

Police arrested a 39-year-old Nampa man Friday after receiving a report of sexual assault involving a teenager, and said they believe there could be more victims.

Tyler Schermerhorn on Monday was being held on a $1 million bond on suspicion of battery with intent to commit a serious felony and sexual battery of a child 16 to 17 years old.

Nampa police were dispatched at about 4:25 a.m. Friday to a residence near Lake Lowell Avenue and Middleton Road, where the incident was reported to have taken place. Schermerhorn was identified as the suspect when authorities arrived, but he had left the scene.

Officers later found the Nampa man in a parking lot of a business in the 2000 block of North Cassia Street. He was then taken into custody and transported to Canyon County Jail.

Police encourage anyone with information on the incident or others involving Schermerhorn to contact Nampa Dispatch at 208-465-2257.
