Nampa woman accused of firing gun at vehicle after altercation arrested by police

Two people were arrested following gunshots on a Nampa street Saturday morning.

Nampa Dispatch received several 911 calls shortly after 10 a.m. reporting gunshots in the 100 block of High Street, according to a Nampa Police Department release.

Police said a 48-year-old Nampa woman shot at an occupied vehicle. The department confirmed the victim in the vehicle was not injured.

Responding officers learned a verbal altercation in a front yard had led to the incident, according to police.

“Nampa Police Detectives report this was an isolated incident involving alcohol, an argument that escalated, and firearms,” the department said. ”There is no further threat to the community.”

The woman was charged with three felonies for discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and malicious injury to property, according to jail records.

A 52-year-old Nampa man was charged with misdemeanors for assault and rioting, according to police.

Police transported both of them to the Canyon County Jail.

“Alcohol misuse and firearms are a dangerous combination,” said Nampa Detective Jonathan Styles. “We are lucky this incident did not result in serious injury or loss of life. Alcohol consumption and firearms do not mix.”
