An Idaho man who in 2023 fled after his wife’s death and was found naked in a sleeping bag near his dead 10-month-old son pleaded guilty Thursday to three counts of murder, according to court documents.

Jeremy Best, 50, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder and three enhancements for use of a deadly weapon during a felony, according to online court records. However, he pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder, court documents said.

The state will not seek the death penalty, court documents said.

His sentencing was reported earlier by KTVB.

Law enforcement responded to a 911 call on Nov. 30, 2023 from a house in Victor, according to previous Statesman reporting. His pregnant wife, Kali Randall, 38, was found dead.

Authorities put out an Amber Alert for their 10-month old son, Zeke. A group of hunters found Best naked in a sleeping bag making odd statements, according to previous Statesman reporting. His son was found nearby, dead.

He was later evaluated and deemed fit to stand trial, according to previous Statesman reporting.
