Update: Police arrest person of interest in Nampa road-rage shooting

Police said a road rage incident in Nampa ended in gunshots, and a person of interest has been arrested on unrelated charges.

During the altercation Wednesday night, one or more suspects in a vehicle fired a gun at another vehicle, striking one of its occupants, the Nampa Police Department said in a social media post.

The adult victim suffered “what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries,” police said.

Officers closed a section of Industrial Road between North Franklin Boulevard and 11th Avenue North at about 6 p.m. as they began investigating. They were still looking for the suspect’s vehicle at 7:45 p.m., but by about 9 p.m., police said they had located it and were interviewing the parties involved. Police reopened the road at that time.

There was “reason to believe” the shooting was gang-related, but it “appears to be an isolated incident,” Nampa police said in a news release Thursday night. A person of interest in the case was arrested Thursday in Caldwell on unrelated charges, according to the release, which did not specify the charges. As of Thursday night, an investigation was ongoing, police said.
