The Boise Police Department on Friday identified 40-year-old Adam Cook as the man shot by officers earlier this week — and named him as the suspect in three robberies in a 10-day span.

Cook was fleeing an arrest attempt when he was shot, according to police. He is being held at a hospital on a warrant for three counts of felony robbery, with enhancements for use of a deadly weapon in commission of a felony.

According to Boise Police, Cook is a suspect in these three robberies:

Sept. 15: A man pulled a handgun just after 7:30 p.m. in a business in the 7000 block of West Fairview Avenue, demanded and took money, and stole an employee’s vehicle.

Sept. 21: A man again demanded and took money and displayed a handgun at a business in the 6000 block of West Overland Road. The incident took place a little before 9:30 p.m.

Sept. 24: On the day that police say they identified Cook as a suspect in the previous robberies, they responded to a third reported robbery. The report was made around 9:30 p.m. and involved a business on Fairview near North McKinney Street.

Police briefly pulled over a suspect vehicle, but the driver fled, police said in the original news release on Wednesday. They received information that the suspect vehicle was seen again near Cole and Ustick roads. Responding officers “saw the suspect jump a fence into the backyard of a home.”

Two officers fired at Cook and injured him while attempting to take him into custody, police said.

The two officers who fired their guns were Cpl. Luis Gutierrez, who has spent 18 years with the Boise Police Department, and Officer John Jayne, who has spent six with BPD, according to the Friday release.
