Boise contractor wrote bad checks, stole payments. A judge has issued his sentence

A Boise business owner was sentenced to spend up to 17 years in prison and to pay $352,683 in restitution to his victims last week, according to a Monday press release.

The sentence includes two years of fixed prison time before he’s eligible for parole.

Michael Eisenbeiss, 60, was a part owner of the residential builder Azure Properties LLC.

Eisenbeiss’ 16 criminal charges included fraudulently writing checks, withholding funds and forging lien waivers, the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Eisenbeiss was found guilty of all 16 charges by an Ada County jury in June 2024.

“This defendant’s conduct left a trail of victims who were negatively impacted by his criminal conduct,” Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts said.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office press release:

Eisenbeiss hired several local businesses to construct custom residential homes in Eagle and Star between September 2018 and April 2019. Eisenbeiss “fraudulently wrote over $150,000 worth of checks while knowing he did not have the funds or credit from the bank to cover the labor.” Eisenbeiss did not pay many subcontractors for their work, keeping the money paid by his clients to himself instead. He also forged the amount, date and notary stamp on lien waivers.

Eisenbeiss’ attorney Neil Price told the Idaho Statesman by email that his client respects the jury’s verdict, but he will use his legal right to appeal “certain legal decisions made during trial as well as the court’s sentence.”
