Idaho man arrested in Garden City after brief police chase. He faces litany of charges
Garden City police arrested an Idaho man after a brief chase Thursday evening that resulted from trying to serve an outstanding warrant from the Idaho Department of Correction.
Officers were aware that the individual was in violation of his parole and had an active warrant for numerous offensives, according to a Garden City Police Department news release. Among the charges were felony eluding, battery on law enforcement, resist and obstruction, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and driving without privileges.
At approximately 10 p.m. Thursday, police located the individual at a residence in the 3900 block of Adams Street in Garden City. The man fled in a vehicle, striking a parked car and then purposely striking a marked Garden City police vehicle, the release said. After initially surrendering, he ran again before a Garden City police dog was deployed to apprehend him.
The Boise Police Department assisted in the arrest, according to the release.
The man was treated briefly at a local hospital before being booked into the Ada County Jail on three misdemeanor and five felony charges, including three counts of battery on law enforcement.
“(He) has a long history of felony crimes and should have been serving his sentence as an inmate with the Idaho Department of Correction,” Garden City Police Chief Cory Stambaugh said in the release.
