Update: Boise, Garden City police arrest suspect of 3 robberies, two armed. What we know
Garden City and Boise police arrested a suspect of three robberies in the past couple of weeks. In one case, he displayed a gun to store employees and in another he claimed to be armed, police said.
The 55-year-old Boise man was arrested early Sunday morning after Boise police on patrol found the stolen truck he had used in multiple robberies in the Borah High School parking lot, Garden City Sgt. Tyler Domeny told the Idaho Statesman. To evade police, the suspect drove through the high school football field, crashed and tried to flee on foot, according to Domeny and a news release from the Garden City Police Department.
His felony charges include two counts of robbery, one count of attempted robbery, grand theft and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer in a motor vehicle, according to 4th Judicial District court records.
The first robbery occurred around 7:25 p.m. July 25 at the Fred Meyer in Garden City, police said, when the suspect walked up to the customer service desk, said he was armed and demanded money, which the employee gave him. Police did not say how much money he took.
They also did not provide the address of the store, but the Garden City Fred Meyer is located at 5425 W. Chinden Boulevard.
Then, around 9:20 a.m. Thursday, the suspect approached an employee at the Garden City Walmart and demanded money, according to police.
After staff complied, he fled in a white GMC pickup truck that was stolen from Atkinson’s Mirror and Glass in Boise, police said. Police did not disclose the amount of money that was taken.
Police also did not provide the address of the store, but the Garden City Walmart is at 7319 W. State St.
On Friday, a man that police said was the same suspect attempted to rob Vista Pawn at 6961 W. State St. in Garden City. He showed staff a gun and told them to give him money, according to the release, but the employees refused and he fled in the same truck. Police said they were dispatched to the location about 6:25 p.m.
