File

Police are asking for the public’s help after multiple gunshots were heard in Caldwell early Sunday.

A Caldwell police officer reported hearing eight to 10 gunshots about 12:55 a.m. coming from the area around the Budget Inn at 512 E. Frontage Road, according to a Caldwell Police Department news release.

Witnesses told the officer they saw two men running away near North Seventh Avenue and East Freeport Street.

Responding officers said they found shell casings and bullet holes in a vehicle parked in the 700 block of East Freeport.

In an additional investigation, police found an unharmed victim, according to the department.

Caldwell police did not immediately respond to the Idaho Statesman’s request for more information.

The department is investigating the incident and asked anyone with information to call the non-emergency dispatch at 208-454-7531 or Crime Stoppers at 208-343-2677.
