Boise police investigating shooting arrest 18-year-old after high-speed pursuit
An 18-year-old man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly fleeing the scene of a shooting and leading police on a high-speed chase.
The Boise Police Department said in a news release that officers responded to reports of gunshots in the 7200 block of W. Colonial Street at approximately 11:43 p.m., speaking to witnesses at the scene.
Evidence showed that an adult male was shot by a male suspect, police said in the release. The victim was transported privately to a local hospital before officers arrived, and he was treated for a gunshot wound.
During the investigation, police said they located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle, and it was leaving the area “at a high rate of speed.” Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver fled, they said. One officer then performed a PIT (pursuit intervention technique) maneuver to debilitate the vehicle in the 7000 block of Franklin Road.
The 18-year-old was transported to a hospital for evaluation before being arrested for allegedly attempting to elude a police officer, a felony. He was still in custody Friday at the Ada County Jail, online records showed.
Boise police said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and they are asking for any businesses in the area of Franklin and Cole roads with security video to contact authorities.
