ISP searching for info after passing motorist threw beer bottle at trooper on I-84

Idaho State Police said a motorist threw a beer bottle at a state trooper conducting a DUI stop in Boise on Thanksgiving, narrowly missing the officer and a suspect, according to a news release.

The agency is looking for more information on the incident.

Authorities said a trooper was responding to reports of a drunken driver on Interstate 84 near milepost 52, between the Orchard Street and Vista Avenue exits at about 11:15 p.m. Thursday. The trooper had a person in custody in the back of his patrol vehicle when a dark-colored car drove past and someone threw a full beer bottle at the trooper, police said.

The vehicle might have been a soft-top convertible, according to the release.

Police said the bottle smashed against the rear window of the patrol car, shattering the window and sending debris into the seats. Officials said the bottle and debris “narrowly missed” the trooper and the suspect in his vehicle.

Anyone with information on the incident can contact Idaho State Police at 208-846-7500.
