Police searching Fruitland home in connection with Idaho boy disappearance
Officials are searching a Fruitland home in connection with the disappearance of a boy more than a year ago.
The Fruitland Police Department and other agencies are searching a home near where Michael Vaughan went missing in July 2021, when he was 5 years old. According to KTVB, which first reported on the search, police are excavating the yard of the home.
Aaron Snell, spokesperson for Idaho State Police, was at the scene this past weekend to assist with media requests. On Monday morning, he told the Idaho Statesman in an email that Fruitland Police Chief JD Huff said “credible information developed during the investigation” and prompted the search.
According to Snell, the chief also said the search would be slow and methodical until completed. Officials with the Fruitland Police Department told the Statesman on Monday that they expect an update later in the day.
Vaughan went missing from his front yard in Fruitland on July 27, 2021. He has blond hair, blue eyes and weighed about 50 pounds and was three feet, seven inches tall at the time. Anyone with information on Vaughan’s disappearance is asked to contact Fruitland police at findmichael@fruitland.org.
