Three people are shot after dispute during Halloween party at a Caldwell home

Police are investigating after three people were shot at a Saturday night party at a home in Caldwell.

Two attendees were kicked out of a “very large” Halloween party after getting into a dispute over an insult, the Caldwell Police Department said in a news release.

A witness told police that a group “threatened retaliation as they were leaving,” according to the department. A few minutes later, a car drove up to the house at 3000 S. Illinois Ave. and fired several shots, the department said. Three people were hit by bullets.

Police and emergency responders arrived shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday. One person was grazed by a bullet and was able to leave after being treated by paramedics. Two others were more seriously injured and needed to be taken to a local hospital. Police said the injuries were not life-threatening.

“Violence is never the way to handle an argument and we will relentlessly be pursuing those responsible for this senseless act of violence and cowardly attempt to destroy lives,” Caldwell Police Chief Rex Ingram said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 208-454-7531.
