Months after Boise stabbing, suspect is in California jail following traffic stop arrest
Ryan McCabe, 42, the suspect in a Boise stabbing in July, was arrested Oct. 18 in Chico, California, on separate charges, police said Thursday in a news release, and is awaiting extradition to Idaho.
The Boise Police Department started searching for McCabe after he allegedly stabbed and seriously injured a man during a fight, the Statesman previously reported.
On July 14, Boise police responded to a parking lot in the 1400 block of South Entertainment Avenue, near a Walmart, the original BPD release said. Police located an “injured adult male” there, and the victim and suspect knew each other, police said.
“Preliminary information indicates they were in a physical fight when McCabe produced a weapon,” police said in the original release. “Information indicates McCabe may have fled the area.”
McCabe was in police custody in California last week facing criminal charges related to a traffic stop when investigators learned that he had a felony warrant in Boise on an aggravated battery charge, Thursday’s release said. He was in custody at the Butte County Jail in California pending extradition to Idaho, according to the release.
