1 man dead in Nampa shooting after police say altercation between brothers became violent

Police say an alleged altercation led to the shooting death of a man Sunday night in Nampa.

Jeremiah Nupen, a 33-year-old Nampa resident, was booked into the Canyon County jail on one felony count of second-degree murder.

Police say officers were dispatched to the scene of a shooting at 6:24 p.m. Sunday at a home on the 2000 block of Railroad Street, according to a news release from the Nampa Police Department.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the victim, identified as 38-year-old Jonathan Dallas, who was shot and later died from his injuries. Also at the scene was Nupen, who was taken into custody by police.

Police say they believe there was an “altercation” between two brothers, which later led to the shooting of Dallas.

Nupen was booked into jail around 1:15 a.m. Monday morning. As of Monday morning, online court records do not show a date or time for an initial appearance in court.

If convicted of second-degree murder, Nupen could face a sentence of at least 10 years in prison and possibly a life sentence.
