Boise Police work to identify suspect in sexual assault of minor, ask for tips

The Boise Police Department is asking for assistance identifying a suspect in a sexual assault they say happened on the Boise Greenbelt on Aug. 20.

According to police, a teenage girl was riding her bike on the Greenbelt when she was approached by a man who used his bike to cause her to crash.

“The male proceeded to grope her and threaten her until another bike rider could be heard approaching and the suspect fled,” according to a police news release. “The victim was traveling in the area of Willow Lane at the time.”

Detectives with Boise PD are investigating and bike officers also have been patrolling the Greenbelt looking for a suspect matching the suspect’s description. The suspect is described as being in his 20s, tall and thin, pale, with short blond hair.

At the time he was clean shaven and was said to have a very large hook nose. He was riding a black mountain bike with large tires. It’s possible the suspect was also later seen riding in the passenger seat of a gray 2006-2007 Nissan Murano, according to BPD.

Anyone with information is asked to call dispatch at 208-377-6790 or CrimeStoppers at 208-343-COPS(2677), www.343COPS.com, or leave a tip using the “P3 Tips” app for cellphones.
