Idaho man accused of pulling gun after car honks at him to drive forward in Boise

Police in Boise arrested a man Tuesday after he allegedly brandished a gun at a vehicle and yelled at those inside on Friday.

Robert Hower, a 26-year-old Boise man, was booked into the Ada County Jail at around 6 p.m. Tuesday on one felony count of aggravated assault. He was also booked on a misdemeanor charge of violating his probation.

On Friday at around 11:30 p.m., Boise police were dispatched to a report of an armed person near the 6600 block of West Fairview Avenue, according to a news release from the Boise Police Department.

Police learned that a driver honked his horn at a car in front to move forward while at a business. This prompted the driver of the other vehicle to move forward. That driver then got out of the car holding a handgun and started yelling at those in the vehicle in the back.

Investigators say they identified the suspect as Hower after getting a description of him and the vehicle he was driving.

Boise detectives and members of the U.S. Marshal’s Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force found and arrested Hower on Tuesday afternoon, according to the news release.

As of Thursday morning, Hower was still in the custody of the Ada County Jail.

Court records show Hower was arraigned via video on Wednesday afternoon. He has a preliminary hearing set for Oct. 5.
