Idaho man facing federal child pornography charge after Kuna home searched Tuesday

Donald Jordan, 53, of Kuna, was charged Tuesday in federal court with possession of child pornography, a felony, the Idaho Attorney General’s Office announced.

Investigators with Idaho’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit served a search warrant at Jordan’s home on Tuesday, the same day he was indicted, according to federal court records.

The ICAC unit consists of members from federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the operation.

Court records indicate that police searched Jordan’s home following an investigation that began in January. Court records show that Jordan was not taken into custody, however, as only a bench warrant was returned as executed.

However, a federal prosecutor filed a motion Wednesday calling for Jordan’s detention. The motion says prosecutors believe there is “a serious risk that (Jordan) will flee.”

In January, a detective with the Ada County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the ICAC unit received a tip regarding an online transfer of child porn that took place the previous March. Investigators found the transfer went to an IP address listed to Jordan’s Kuna home, according to the complaint.

In July, investigators obtained a search warrant for a Microsoft OneDrive (a cloud storage platform) account, which produced photos and videos depicting child pornography.

After executing the search warrant on Tuesday, law enforcement officials interviewed Jordan. He allegedly admitted to obtaining the illegal images and videos after the files were sent to him by an unknown person roughly two years prior.

He allegedly told police that he shared the child pornography files in exchange for other files, according to the complaint.

If convicted, Jordan faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Jordan’s initial appearance in court is slated for Friday and will take place over video.
