Boise man convicted on methamphetamine charge faces up to 15 years in prison
A Boise man has been convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine after a four-day federal trial, according to a news release from Idaho U.S. Attorney Bart Davis.
Edward Eric Behrens, 42, was arrested in February 2019 when he was stopped by the Boise Police Department for a traffic infraction. A drug-sniffing dog alerted officers, whose search of the car turned up more than 435 grams of meth.
Behrens’ trial started Monday and the jury returned its verdict Thursday evening. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 10 before 4th District Judge B. Lynn Winmill. Behrens faces 15 years to life in prison, up to a $10 million fine and up to five years of supervised release.
This case was investigated by the Boise Police Department, Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho State Police and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, according to the release.
In another meth distribution case this week, a Star man was sentenced to five years in prison by Winmill. Brooks Case, 33, also was ordered to serve four years of supervised release, according to a news release from Davis’ office.
Case was convicted in a June trial.
